{"id":1746,"date":"2021-10-09T18:37:12","date_gmt":"2021-10-09T17:37:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ajooda.ch\/en\/?p=1746"},"modified":"2022-10-03T16:10:49","modified_gmt":"2022-10-03T15:10:49","slug":"switzerlands-4-most-important-legislative-changes-in-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ajooda.ch\/en\/switzerlands-4-most-important-legislative-changes-in-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"4 most important law changes in Switzerland 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Paternity leave<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As of 1\nJanuary 2021, a two-week paternity leave (10 working days) will be introduced,\nwhich will lead to changes in the regulations of the Compensation Act (EOG).\nPaternity leave can be taken flexibly within six months after the birth of the\nchild.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accordingly,\nthe entitlement to paternity allowance does not expire upon resumption of\nemployment, as is the case with maternity allowance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nallowance is paid to the father who was in gainful employment at the time of\nthe child&#8217;s birth, whether as an employee or self-employed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the\nemployer continues to pay wages during the leave, the compensation is paid\ndirectly to the employee or employer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To finance\nparental leave, the EO contribution rate will be increased from 0.45% to 0.5%\nas of 1 January 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Occupational benefits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Article 47a\nBVG will come into force on 1 January 2021. According to this article, all\ninsured persons who are older than 58 and have been dismissed by their employer\nmay remain in the pension scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone who\nwas excluded from the pension fund after 31 July 2020 may also apply for\nreinstatement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pension\nfunds can provide for continued insurance from the age of 55 and must be made\naware of this possibility by the employer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new\nregulations allow employees to remain dependent on the old pension fund and to\ncontinue their retirement benefits. On the one hand, the interest rate of a\npension fund is higher than that of a retirement savings account; on the other\nhand, you can choose between a lump sum and a pension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Supplementary benefits\n(EL)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>An asset\nthreshold of CHF 100,000 (married couples: CHF 200,000) now applies. In\nprinciple, anyone with assets above this threshold is not entitled to EL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Owner-occupied\nproperties are not included in the assets, but holiday homes and investment\nproperties are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\naddition, the tax-free amounts are reduced from CHF 37,500 to CHF 30,000 for\nsingles and from CHF 60,000 to CHF 50,000 for couples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone who\ninherits more than CHF 40,000 must pay part of it back to the EL implementing\nagencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Supplementary benefits and\nrent<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Recipients\nof supplementary benefits will be allowed to offset more rental costs from\n2021. Until now, an annual limit of CHF 13,200 and CHF 15,000 for couples\napplied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, a distinction is made between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsv.admin.ch\/bsv\/de\/home\/sozialversicherungen\/ergaenzungsleistungen\/grundlagen-und-gesetze\/grundlagen\/mietkosten-ergaenzungsleistungen.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"3 rental regions (opens in a new tab)\">3 rental regions<\/a>, resulting in a maximum deduction of CHF 16,440 for individuals and CHF 23,520 for couples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As far as <a href=\"https:\/\/ajooda.ch\/en\/health-insurance-switzerland-comparison\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">health insurance premiums<\/a> are concerned, from 2021 onwards the health insurance premiums actually paid will be reimbursed but may not exceed the regional average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Save even more taxes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Those who pay into <a href=\"https:\/\/ajooda.ch\/en\/3rd-pillar-in-switzerland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pillar 3a<\/a> can save a lot of tax, depending on the region. From 2021, the maximum amount has been increased even further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How much tax can you save\nwith Pillar 3a?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A single\nperson in the municipality of Lucerne with a net salary of CHF 60,000 can save\nup to CHF 1,500 in taxes per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Bern, a single person with an annual income of CHF 100,000 can even save up to CHF 2,300 a year in taxes by paying into the <a href=\"https:\/\/ajooda.ch\/en\/3rd-pillar-in-switzerland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">3rd pillar.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An insured\nperson with a pension fund can deduct CHF 6,883.
